Anger can be a tricky emotion, and anger management therapy and therapy to address anger can help. Too often, we are told that anger is a problem and that we should not feel it. The unfortunate result of this message is that anger then gets stuffed until we can’t hold it in anymore, and we end up saying or doing things that have unpleasant consequences. Those consequences may be lowered self-esteem, strained relationships at home or at work, and even legal problems. We then feel guilty and beat ourselves up about how we reacted, and the cycle of stuffing our emotions until we cannot hold on any longer continues.
